Arpeggia

At MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, one side of the huge Donald B. and Catherine C. Marron Atrium is pierced by a glass-walled stairway. I was struck by the musicality of the flights, reminding me of octaves on a musical scale. Stairs in Italian is scala. And arpeggia are a series of notes of a scale or a chord played in sequence. Just like the steps on these stairs.
