I had just come out from a wonderful exhibit of André Kertesz’s black and white photographs at the National Gallery in Washington, D.C., and came across this stairway on the Mall side of the building. Kertesz was a master of light and shadow and I must say that I was very influenced by his work and felt very “in-the-moment” seeing this shadow.
