Waitawheto Water

Where the Waitawheto River (pronounced like wye-tah-Fay-toe) runs through the now abandoned gold-mining region in the Karangahake Gorge, there are rapids, falls, and a few calm pools. The rock wall on the opposite bank was reflected in one of the calmer pools before tumbling down more rapids. The image, inverted and returned to geotropic norm, becomes difficult to parse visually, but it can be appreciated purely for its abstract quality.
