Napier Deco Door

Rebuilt from the ground up following a devastating earthquake in 1931, Napier, on the east coast of the North Island, has become a living museum of the Art Deco style. Here is a side-door entrance to the stage of the Soundshell, an Art Deco bandstand with a colonnaded forecourt and outdoor dancing area located on the Marine Parade, the beachfront tree-lined avenue. Finished in 1935, its design was based on architectural ideas from Hollywood. The three bicycle racks added recently compliment the Deco theme.
