Motovun

I am indeed a sucker for hill towns, and Motovun would not disappoint. We could not venture up into the town itself, time not being on our side, but the view from below was enchanting. Known as Montona in Italian, it was a key center in the Republic of Venice. Like so many other towns in Croatian Istria, Italian is still spoken by a large segment of the population. Wine, olive oil, and truffles are the major products of the region.
