Every year the twin communities of Calais, Maine and St. Stephen, New Brunswick just across the Saint Croix River celebrate a week-long international “Homecoming Festival.” Vendors and hawkers come in from all over to sell crafts, art, trinkets, gewgaws, useless souvenirs, as well as smoked fish, gravlax, funnel cakes, cotton candy, and life-sized inflatable super-heroes. There is something for everyone!
