Down and Out on 5th

Sometimes there is collateral subject matter when I take a photograph. In this particular case, I was photographing the trolley cars on North 5th Street at Rising Sun Avenue in Philadelphia, back in about 1965. While the trolley (not seen in this cropping) was my subject, off to the side was this more interesting image with a story to tell. The trolleys don’t run on 5th anymore, but other than that, unfortunately, the neighborhood hasn’t changed a bit.
