In Fairyland

“Hoodoos” in the making, as well as some in the foreground which have nearly weathered away. The soft limestone of the Paunsaugunt Plateau weathers very easily, giving rise to the hoodoos, but won't be around very long (geologically speaking). Apparently the erosion rate of the plateau’s edge is about 3 feet every 100 years. Let’s see, that means that if we come back to Bryce in, say, 100,000 years, about 3000 more feet of the plateau edge will have eroded, and most of what is seen in this photo will be gone, weathered and eroded away to nothing.
