Some of the sandstone formations at Bean Hollow State Beach a few miles south of San Francisco are rather evocative of other things. Animals, plants, even human forms are suggested in the rocks, their textures ranging from smooth almost skin-like to rough and pocked. The seeming emergence of one form from within another, a birth, was slowly happening right before my eyes, if only I could speed up enough to truly witness it.
