Bean Hollow Tafoni #1

At Bean Hollow State Beach few miles south of San Francisco, along the San Mateo County coast, a very peculiar sandstone rock formation has developed called “tafoni” by geologists. These odd holes and ridges in the sandstone are the result of uneven weathering by salt spray, wind, and sun. I especially like this implied amphibian, clinging to the rock, attempting to make itself as inconspicuous as possible. “If I don’t move, perhaps you won’t see me.” But I did.
