A nighttime visit to the Nasrid Palace of the Alhambra in Granada is much more serene than during the heat of the southern Spanish day. Although at night one cannot visit any of the gardens, the places one can visit take on a more ethereal quality. Very carefully lit so that the lights are unobtrusive, there is a subtlety about the lighting that simulates moonlight. Gone are the crowds and the constantly screaming chimney swifts. The only sound is the quiet murmuring of the few visitors appreciating the solitude and majesty of the night.
