Narrow Bridge

Where the rail line down the west coast from Greymouth to Hokatika crosses the Taramakau River, the one bridge must be shared by cars, trucks, buses, bikes, pedestrians, as well as trains. It is a one-lane bridge, and all New Zealanders know to obey the right-of-way signs posted at all narrow road locations. Here the on-coming traffic has the right-of-way.
