Cubist Guanajuato

Guanajuato, the capitol city of the Mexican state of the same name, about 50 miles from San Miguel de Allende, was founded in the 1550s. It became immensely wealthy due to its many rich silver mines. While the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there are fairly liberal views on the paint colors allowed on buildings. Seen from the Panoràmica, the overlook on a hill high above, the town looks like a Cubist’s dream.
