Via Appia Steps

One of the most mysterious of the Italian hill towns, Perugia is filled with narrow dark streets, some just stairs. High overhead, arches tie buildings together, buttressing each other against the constant threat of seismic damage. The Via Appia links the high-up town center with the University of Perugia lower down and outside the city gates. A major thoroughfare for students, it could easily be called Via Studenti.
