Pink Lady’s Slippers
Deep in the New England forest called Middlesex Fells, each spring brings forth a jubilant outpouring of enthusiastic wild flowers in the orchid family. Although the Pink Lady’s Slipper is the state flower of New Hampshire, it is rare and endangered everywhere in New England and should never be picked or moved. I have found several very prolific spots in the Fells and in Dogtown on Cape Ann, but I never divulge their exact locations.
