After a day in New Zealand’s Te Urewera forest hiking up from Lake Waikaremoana to Lake Waikareiti and back, we headed down to the coast at Wairoa for the night. Passing by a hillside covered with sheep — they’re everywhere in New Zealand — the late afternoon light was just right to accentuate the terrace-like trails the sheep use on these steep slopes.
