Christmas day. Before settling down to a sumptuous feast, I took a walk with my family through some fields along Old Sudbury Road in Wayland, one of the old towns just west of Boston. Passing through the community gardens, abandoned for the winter, I noticed many puddles which had gone through a daily process of freeze/thaw freeze/thaw resulting in some interesting patterns. The dancing swirls seem almost more botanical than meteorological.
