Homage à Georges Braque

Perched on the tip of Cape Ann in Massachusetts, Rockport is blessed with some absolutely wonderful rock formations along its Atlantic coast. Jumbling down to the water’s edge along Point de Chene Avenue are great slabs of granite, sliced through in places with incursions of black basalt. During the winter, the many tide pools freeze over. One such frozen pool, its salty water having frozen and melted repeatedly, displayed an intriguing pattern of abstract forms. The ice and captured bubbles within created this image very reminiscent of the work of French cubist painter Georges Braque.
