Fontainebleau Ghost #2

It was a gray blustery day in late winter when we visited the French château at Fontainebleau. For many years it was the home of Napoleon and his family, and while it was already a magnificent estate, he decorated the whole place in his own inimitable style. Monumental allegorical marble statuary dot the grounds enhancing the vistas created by vast pools and tree-lined alleyways and lawns. To protect the statuary from the destructiveness of our modern winter weather, sheets are fastened over the marble works, covering them with an appearance like ghosts of the many people who lived in this palace over the centuries. The February wind blew and billowed the ghosts, giving them a similitude of life.
