These portraits of sycamore trees are in Laurelhurst Park in Portland, Oregon. Located on SE 39th (now known as SE César E. Chavez Boulevard) near Burnside, this gem of a park was designed by the office of Frederick Law Olmstead around 1910 or so. The wonderfully lumpy sycamores were probably planted at that time, and have aged so marvelously, each tree having its own personality, individually taking on the semblance of an older person beginning to sag as gravity takes hold. Bellies, butts, and breasts, underarms, calves, and thighs, all our jiggly parts are here.
