Palazzo sull’Arno

Florence, Italy, hugs the banks of the river Arno. Built like ramparts along either side are some of the grand houses of the wealthy, the grand palazzi. We had just seen the fantastic Masaccio fresco of the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden in the church of Santa Maria del Carmine and were crossing the Arno on the Ponte alla Carraia. There before me was this brilliantly painted palazzo reflected on the surface of the river.
