Blackstone Fall

Just a little back from where the Blackstone River starts its descent into the Blackstone Gorge in Millville in south central Massachusetts, there is a wonderful remnant of the canal which coursed through this valley in the early 19th century. The Millville Lock is the best preserved lock on the Blackstone Canal and is reachable either by kayak/canoe from the river or by a short walk along the Southern New England Trunkline Trail from Millville Center.

Looking upriver from near the lock, the calm waters of the Blackstone reflect the serenity of the autumn season and anticipate the coming winter.
