Reclamation 1

One of the hallmarks of life in the tropics is how fast nature can overtake man’s neglected impact. Here, a parked SUV up the hill from Kailua-Kona on the west side of Hawai‘i, is starting to disappear. Soon, trees will be growing through the engine compartment and rust will peel away the paint. In a few years, barring any further human intervention, this vehicle will be gone. Not soon enough, I hear some of you say!
