Clear Blue Pacific
We took a wonderful hike along part of the Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail following the coastline from the Pu‘ukohola Heiau National Historic Site to Hapuna Beach State Park. This trail extends 175 miles along the western and southern sides of the Big Island. While we only walked on about 3 miles, it wound in and out of inlets, over headlands, across manicured golf courses, along white sand beaches, offering some spectacular views. The water in this small cove was stunningly clear and would have offered terrific snorkeling. But we had our boots on that day, not our fins.
