Auku‘u Hunting
A Hawaiian black crowned night heron, or auku‘u, stealthily stalks its prey in the shallow tide pools along the shoreline of the Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park. In addition to some wonderful wildlife, the park, just north of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island, boasts some fine examples of ancient petroglyphs carved into the lava flows.
