Spending a day in downtown LA while waiting to take an overnight flight to New Zealand, we wandered through the canyons and open spaces of this fascinating building. Home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Frank Gehry’s signature stainless steel building was started in 1992 but was not completed until 2003. Lillian Disney, Walt Disney’s widow, initiated the project with a $50 million donation in 1987 as a gift to the people of Los Angeles, but unfortunately did not live to see the building completed.
