Montezuma Castle

About a hundred miles north of Phoenix, Montezuma Castle National Monument is home to some well-preserved cliff dwellings. Built about 800 years ago by the Sinagua people, the pueblo developed into a 50 room structure. It was Theodore Roosevelt who declared Montezuma Castle as a National Monument in 1906 to preserve it as a place of ethnological value.
