Tartini Square Piran
After a long bike ride from Trieste, Italy, through Koper, Slovenia, and along the coast of Slovenian Istria, we came to Piran, the penultimate town on the Slovenian coast. The main square in the old town, Tartini Square, is named after the famous Italian violinist/composer Giuseppe Tartini. A classic Venetian-style campanile looms over the colorful square. We couldn’t tarry here, though, as inviting as some of the cafés were. We had to keep cycling down the coast to Portorož, the ultimate destination to end our long day.
