Pont-Aven in Brittany is truly an artists' town. There are more than sixty art galleries which cater to the summer crowds of art-buying tourists. One of the real jewels of the town was the Café des Arts, a lively gathering place for artists, art students, and musicians of the town. Alas, the café closed in 2008 but the space is still art-oriented, having been replaced by a gallery.
