ABBESSES

Scattered around Paris are a few remaining original Art Deco entrances to the Métro. Designed by Hector Guimard in the first decade of the 20th century, these prime examples of the style exhibit references to plant structures. While there are about 80 original entrances still in existence, only two have their original glass canopies. This entrance, at the Abbesses station on Montmartre, is one of the two.
