Near where I live in Medford, Massachusetts is a large natural area called the Middlesex Fells. Set aside in the 1890s and protected from development, this area is a favorite for walkers, birders, off-road bicyclists, and nature lovers. One fall I was walking with my mother-in-law and saw the colors on this oak leaf as it was just starting to turn.
